Candidates’ forum set for July 29
Six community organizations are teaming up to host a Candidates’ Forum just prior to the Tuesday, Aug. 3, primary election. The event will be held on Thursday, July 29, at North Central Michigan College.
The forum will feature candidates vying for election to the 1st U.S. Congressional District, the 37th State Senate, the 107th State House, as well as the Emmet County Board of Commissioners.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an open-house format where voters can meet one-on-one with the candidates. At 7:30 p.m., moderator Ken Winter will ask the candidates for the U.S. and State seats to answer a brief question with a timed response.
Sponsoring organizations include the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce, Little Traverse Association of Home Builders, Northwest Michigan Industrial Association, Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, North Central Michigan College and the Petoskey News-Review.
Those who cannot attend but would like to watch the forum can join the live video stream of the event that will be available at www.petoskeynews.com. Questions about the event can be directed to the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce at 347-4150.
