Zoom, a Belgian Malinois Shepherd, joined the Emmet County Sheriff's Office in June of 2007. The K-9 team is used in many situations including, but not limited to, building searches, tracking of lost people and criminals, prowler complaints, and drug detection.
The presence of a well marked K-9 vehicle in our county gives criminals one more thing to think about prior to committing a crime. The presence of the K-9 team and their ability to respond quickly also gives peace of mind to those looking for a lost family member or those looking for a criminal on the loose.
